Continuing the topic of human origins (and continuing my recent obsession with Michael Williams), I have to wonder: why do arguments like this bother me? Key human characteristics.

Because it proves there are people who can see whatever they want, in and amongst the facts?

Because when someone says, “When you take an objective, unbiased view, I think you’ll see that I rock” it stinks of hubris?

I used to be in the faith/intelligent-design camp actually. I came around when I realized that I was coming up with explanations for the world to justify my faith rather than letting the evidence of the world lead me to conclusions. It took me a while to get over that this wasn’t satan trying to lead me astray or anything, it was just my brain reeling from the contortions I was putting it through.

I also like the idea that when you question human superiority/dominance you become a hater of your own species.
Though really the answer is dependent on your criteria, and the criteria chosen is subjective, so humans are/are not ‘x’ is dependent on the questioner.
Personally, I really don’t that humans are so special, perhaps we are just ‘aware’ enough to think so.
