FBI Keeping Us Safe from… Dissent

Susan of Suburban Guerrilla passes along a fun email she received from a playwright who lives about four blocks from Madison Square Garden. (Update: Um, no. It was’t emailed to her; it was received by someone else, who posted it in the comments on Atrios’ weblog.) The woman (update: nope; man) was recently visited by a pair of FBI agents who allegedly threatened her with arrest (er, threatened him with arrest) for putting a “Dump Bush” sign in her (his) window: Protecting American values.

I’m glad to see that John Ashcroft has the Bureau’s priorities straight.

Doric is a man, not a woman. I didn’t get the email; the recipient posted it in the comments section on Atrios.

the link appears to no longer work.

Was the story pulled? is the FBI censoring the world? was JFK shot by Deep Throat? was the Apollo landing faked using a sound stage on the island of Atlantis? am I a giant conspiricy nut?

The Truth is Out There, Man.

“Hey Ernie lets go mess with Lefties heads again.”

You mean the FBI stunt again?

“Yeah thats the one. I still have the suit and badge. You?”

Yeah it’s in the car. Know any good places to start?

“Saw a Dump Bush sign in some transvestites window down the street. Let’s start there.”

    K.

Susan removed the piece. She writes on her site as follows:

UPDATE: I just spoke to the author of the email that was posted here earlier. He was quite agitated, said he was old, in ill health with no insurance and had been in bed with high blood pressure ever since the story first hit the web 24 hours ago.

He said it was a private email, not intended for public distribution. At his request, I’ve removed it.
