Krugman: How We Lost the Aftermath
The latest Paul Krugman column asks, and answers, a simple quesetion: Who lost Iraq?
Let’s say the obvious. By making Iraq a playground for right-wing economic theorists, an employment agency for friends and family, and a source of lucrative contracts for corporate donors, the administration did terrorist recruiters a very big favor.

A discourging report, but probably true. Now the question is “how to best proceed?”

Suppose. Just suppose Iraq is not lost.
Suppose. Just suppose that like Tet, Iraq is the graveyard of our enemies. Suppose we (some at lest) are trying to do now what was done then: turn victory into defeat.
Millions of lives were lost to the ensuing communist tradgey.
Do you suppose the coming Islamic tragedy will be any better? If not why promote it? I understand the alpha male struggle. I understand how disappointed you will be if your alpha male doesn’t win.
There are bigger issues at stake.
BTW during and post (for a while) Vietnam I supported the way of the left. Never again.

I might mention that as an idealistic youth (and veteran) I believed Kerry in 1971. I will never believe that lying murdering son of a bitch again.
Not because of the mistakes he made. (I made them too) Because he never was sorry. Never.
It is a sorry day for America when we are given such lousy choices for leader. Still I can tell you Kerry will never get my vote. I followed his advice once. Based on it there are at least 2 million dead.
