Teen Values TV Over Mom
Here’s a feel-good story to break my recent trend of posting about quagmires and war crimes. From CNN: Kill mom but don’t hurt TV, teen tells hitman.

I thought about writing about this heart-warming story, too (instead I wrote about Supply-side Jesus — another heart warmer).
I do see everyday in my classes those students who value their X-Box over their relationship with their parents. Students who refer openly to mom as “that bitch” and who really don’t know their fathers at all. Luckily they are not the majority, but still a sizeable number would choose an hour with MTV over five minutes with their mother anyday.
But that’s the price you pay when you make the TV the babysitter/surrogate parent, right?
