I don’t like country music. I don’t like VH1. But I _am_ glad to see someone “famous” with an opinion not afraid of being ostrisized by (most likely a majority of) their fans.
While I may not care for her music, I greatly respect Natalie.

Dear ASB:
…and while I may not care for your point of view, I respect your opinion.
Last night’s acceptance speech (VH1) was another example of what’s wrong with Natalie’s approach to this situation. She’s clearly feeding off the controversy, feeling empowered by the “haters” (as she calls them). This follows similar appearances on ABC and Today Show interviews, etc.
I personally don’t want my entertainers to cross the line and try to influence my politics…be it Streisand, Baldwin, Alda, Penn, Govenor Arnold (ugh), or the Chicks.
I’m not the type to shout “shut up and sing”, but when someone says something wrong (or in her case in the wrong way) and then takes every opportunity since to play-up “the incident” (sort of like salt in the wound) I loose both patience and respect. In this case, Natalie has lost the opportunity, in my eyes, to make a compelling case for what she believes. She’s made “it” all about her now.
Therefore, I’ll exercise my point of view, and tune out, and in her case,not buy another CD.
And I’ll go on wishing crap like this would go away.

Maines’ nasty temper and loose mouth are, in part, just two of many reasons why I left ‘the left’ and came over to the stuffed-shirt party. No apologies necessary, Natalie; no explanations needed, and no more ranting and raving about your self-perceived ‘victimhood.’ It’s all over. You said it, and now you’ve gotta’ live with it, just like the rest of us. Your music (with the exception “Earle,” and a couple of others) is good. You are, in fact, a pretty accomplished artist. But really, girl: You need to learn to shut your errant mouth and practice discretion.

Natalie Maines and her bandmates obviously dont give two squirts of piss about their careers or else this self rightious whore of a singer would not be on T.V. spouting her worthless 2 bit ass information. I seriously hope she realizes she just pulled a nice big fat Terrance Trent D’Arby. For those of you who dont know who that is, he was a singer with a very promising career in the 80’s until he went off spouting his self rightious bullshit and now he’s behind a counter at some Arby’s handing a punk ass 13 year old his roast beef with fries. Natalie Maines is entitled to her opinion, no matter how idiotic it is, she is entitled to it. The thing I dont understand though is what makes her think that any of us give a fuckin shit what she has to say. Your against war, great, now go do something about it u lazy coward bitch. She wont because she would rather talk about and make controversy because she is an attention needing camera whore. I’m actually glad to see she said what she did because it gave me a chance to see Toby Keith and the rest of the free world sock her with a nice big verbal ass whooping. That bitches own mother probably denies giving birth to that ungreatful homeland hating skank. That’s all I have to say now.
