The Secret Diaries of LOTR Characters

I found this by way of my daughter, which is kind of a weird “they get old so fast” experience. But whatever; it’s still really funny. If thou hast the Lord of the Rings fanboy/fangirl bug, go thou and readst these with great alacrity: The secret diaries of Cassandra Claire.

I’m not so sure about your taste in humor here. 95% of the jokes in these diaries are tedious gay jokes of the high school variety.

  2. John Callender Says:

“Humor. It is a difficult concept.”

You certainly have a point. I really don’t know why these strike me as being so funny. I laughed my ass off at some of those Fensler Films GI Joe movies, and the humor there is pretty juvenile, too.

Anyway, apologies for disappointing. I yam what I yam, I guess.

  3. John F Says:

Juvenile or no — these diaries were hilarious.

I mean, you can’t tell me that you sat through Lord Of the Rings and didn’t think Frodo was acting queer (the jovial celebration after Frodo turns out to be ok from the Wraith’s sword, hwo Frodo is so glad Sam came with him on the journey to Mordor, etc).

Sure I can. I wouldn’t want to go on a trip like that alone and would be glad for the company. No sexual interest necessary.

And Sam is mis-trustful of Gollum because Frodo fancies a roll in the sack with him?

Take the diaries at face value as fun and leave it at that. As for the diaries, in my opionion they were funny initially but then grew old quickly

  5. Jennifer Jensen Says:

A little overboard with the gay themes – but hysterical, nevertheless. Not all of the jokes were gay jokes. The Nasgul # 5 was the best – especially the part about playing Scrabble with Orcs and the Orcs only knowing about the Black Language and the milk carton ring picture strategy.

    Very interesting.

MMR — of course they are a joke, but they are none the less funny pointing out what some may read as inuendo.

I mean, have you ever watched “Resevoir Dogs”? Begining fo the movie you see the grisley scene with Mr. White and Mr. Orange riding in the car — Orange has been shot and of course he’s reacting to it with his moans and whails….

But at the same time, some of the stuff gets so over the top that you could see it in a humorous light. “Who’s a tough guy? WHo’s a tough guy?”

    “Hold me, Larry, Hold me….”

Me and some friends were watching it and I love this movie for what it is but someone pointed out how gay it came off when Tim Roth moaned those “Hold me, Larry” lines… or “Don’t leave me!” Yes, he’s a person who has been shot, who is fearing death and he’s reacting to it — but in the same light, it’s a movie for entertainment value.

Seeing things in a humorous light – even if they aren’t politically correct — adds further enjoyment to the movies. I don’t think less of LOTR’s because of the homo jokes in that diary, nor the scenes that inspired the jokes… Nor do I think less of Resevoir Dogs for the scenes that went too over the top and inspired me and my friends to joke through the remainder of the viewing of the film….

    Well, http://www.ealasaid.com/misc/vsd/

She’s only gotten up to Legolas from The Two Towers

And, about some comments, I thought the Diaries were hilarious, and I don’t think you can be too critical of them, because then obviously you won’t like them. It’s all in good fun.

Omg…Those diaries rocked. I read them to everybody I knew. We laughed until we cried. Nothing wrong with gay humor at all. lol. It’s funny coming from a LOTR perspective. Hilarious. Keep up the good work. And those of you who want to criticize it, shove off. If you don’t like it, tough. No one is making you read it. Love’d ’em!!! Keep ’em coming!

  13. Maya Says:

It was ultra cool reading those diaries. I’m a huge fan of LOTR but i think that Cassandra looked at the movie from another point of view-the funny one.

  14. Lord Says:

That’s great that tastes differ. I find it sad that people have sunk into such intellectual decay as to find fault with a difference of opinion. As for me, I find those diaries quite interesting. LOTR is cool!!!

  15. N. D. fan Says:

These rock I collect them they r totally a must resd (2 bad u can’t get school credit for them)

  16. N. D. fan Says:

If u can find more 4 the 2 towers besides Legolas’s, Aragorn’s, or Theodon’s could u submit them or personally send them 2 me I’d really appreciate it

    On the diaries themselves
So funny. I realize that it is of course morally wrong but its hilarious. I mean the fact that every single person says “sam will kill him if he tries anything” just makes me crack up.
This is one of those things that the world couldn’t exist in the same way as it does 2day.
My friends and I make jokes about them and use the phrases in our daily lives. just a couple days ago 4 instance, me and a friend (who r planningon going as Galdriel and Arwen this Halloween me: arwen friend: galadriel) went into a store and they were selling LOTR cardboard charactors. My friend is totally obsessed with Elijah Wood (a.k.a. Frodo)and they had one of him. Shes short so she says “just the right size” but actually it was to short so I said “yeah, he’ll just have to stand on stilts”
Several people were wondering why she smacked me

  17. Jetta Colette Crystal Says:

THESE TOTALLY ROCK!!! My friend and I had a quote off from them and it got ssssooooooo hard. who knew it was hard to come up with a quote while u r rolling around on the floor with laughter!

  18. Chelli Says:

These are actually quite funny, but most of the jokes are sex/gay jokes. Is that really necessary? You should make more about Legolas, as they are hilarious. I almost pissed my self reading every diary. Good job Cassandra!

  19. moo Says:

    That was awesome!
    Good job Cassandra
Whens the 2 towrs coming out?
Maybe instead of Frodo getting stilts Arwen should give up her height to date a hobbit
    Frodo rulez!
