Syria, like any other country, will take advantage of a weak and corrupt government such as Lebanon’s. Regarding Lebanon’s sovereign identity: Lebanon was mentioned by name and character in ancient Egyptian scripts and in the bible, as well as in other important texts, long before Islam and long before anyone took notice of “greater syria.” Even when it was not a country, it had it’s own identity, and it still does. No one should raise themselves up by bringing their neighbors down. As for Lebanese women… if we’re sluts, why can’t any of you get any of us? Gee, I stumbled upon your site so I leave a little comment…while much of the comments here express deeply held emotions and the pain that empire causes, the real problem with Israel, USA, Lebannon, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, etc etc etc is that these nations(hell virtually every nation in the world) is controled by the economic powers that be. The oil rich states are pimps to the whoredom of oil and all that oil encompasses. The plastic casing of your computer, your pens, your polyester clothing etc etc etc are all both direct and indirectly petroleum based products. But a more important issue is that petro is not neccessary to produce such products. Plastics are deriviatives of oil but plastics were first cellulose(tree and fiberous plant based)) and of course were/are renewable resources, there is very little danger of running out of such a resource since, duh, it is renewable. The problem of oil is that this resource is something the power structure is currently set up to create their profit with. These cocksuckers aren’t gonna do the “right thing” since they might loses millions. The oil factor is one of the saddest and most dnagerously stupid economic decisions ever. Everyone seems to blame the market for “choosing” oil. But the market has no control, people have control. Go back to the robber barons era and it becomes apparent that those with wealth and influence stacked the deck in their favor. First, whaling disappeared(some good did happen), then the railroads slowly disappeared. If oil were economically compared to bio diesel the decision is easy. Bio-diesel is far superior and far less expensive in both the short term and the long term. The consequences of oil are disasterous. So why are we stuck in this dead end situation that only benefit a slim minority of people? Once again, it is’s wealth and wealth’s short term profit motives that have caused good sense to be discarded. These people are shameless and care nothing for you or yours. Their concerns are, at best, masturbatory… anger… anger… anger…

Christians should not dare insult their Muslim brethren, and Muslims should not dare insult the Christian presence in the Arab world. Yes, we all have our problems but we are one in the same. We all share a similar culture, history, background and fate. And if one TRULY cares about LEBANON or TRULY cares about SYRIA, then you will realize that you will have to work together, because both groups are part of the system of these respective nations.

This site makes me laugh, and then I feel sad. Most of these comments are so ignorant. I mean, PEOPLE; at least get your facts right before arguing. Then argue all you want. Really. Some intelligent debate here would go a long way into helping everyone understand each other’s point of view. Then again I guess ignorance is bliss and for some people I guess that is enough.
I have some comments:
1. The Algerian Muslim dude posted, “Its true, if it were not for our arab muslim brothers in lebanon the jews would be shitting over you. They dont give a shit if your not Jew. Only jews are important to them.” Also, all the other comments about Palestine, Lebanon, Arab countries helping each other, etc…
First of all, maybe that is true (about the Jews being in for themselves only), but aren’t Muslims the same, they don’t ‘give a shit’ about anyone but themselves, and, even fight each other in their different sects? Syria did not fight ‘the Jews’ because they were defending their ‘Arab brothers’. They hate the west; Jews have western back-up; the western presence means that this whole barbaric method of “take-over-a-country-and-kill/fight/suppress/abuse/no-democracy-anywhere” will not be tolerated anymore as a valid method of governing and politiking; so OFCOURSE they fought the Jews.
Now I am not saying the Jews had a right to remove Palestinians from their homes and kill the people and destroy their villages; but then again, the Palestinians came into Lebanon, and killed and destroyed many people/villages, ESPECIALLY in the South. They set up terrorist training camps, had more weapons than the Lebanese army, and were running around loose terrorizing people. And not just in Lebanon, but Jordan and even parts of Egypt. Anywhere they went really.
So really, are they any better? No. Is Syria really chivalrous for ‘fighting’ the Jews? No. Syria also wanted part of Israel, they were fighting for land, they were NOT ‘defending their arab brothers’. No one is that noble; if the West/Lebanon/Jews are blamed for being out for themselves, well at least they admit it. EVERY NATION/COUNTRY/GOVERNMENT is out for itself, PERIOD. Remember: Islamic, Socialist, Communist, Secular and any Extremist way of governing operates this way: “We are only out for ourselves no matter what/who gets screwed.” So really, if you accuse the Jews of being this way, you’re also talking about Islam here.
Most religions used to or still operate in that mentality to some extent, but right now, the most prominent in showing it, is the Islamic religion. (This is fact.) So don’t go justifying the correctness of “fighting” against the Jews and opressing your own people and countries under you, unless you are ready to come out of denial and face the facts.
I went to a talk conducted by a muslim sheik at my college (mostly because I had to write an article about it for the school paper), and he had some very interesting things to say about Islam and the Islamic extremists and the faith in general. Some things that were interesting:
1. The Islamic faith is the only faith left that has not progressed since its begining. Other religions have unified themselves. They have moved forward in their views and adapted them to the times, people, and views of today. The Islamic faith has remained the same, and the messages vary from region to region, country to country. There is no centeralization or strong communication for the faith.
2. Since the faith has not changed, it has been an impediment to Muslims moving forward. Every mosque teaches Islam in a different way. Every Sheik has a different interpretation. There is no structure to how the faith is interpreted. There is no ONE interpretation. This cause conflicts even between Muslims, let alone between non-Muslims and Muslims. This method is weakening Islam.
My conclusions by the end of his talk:
1. The Muslim faith needs to do more than preach these “messages” to its people if it wants to survive. In the Middle East, their are many uneducated Muslims who go to the mosques to listen to their holy teachings. But if every Sheik interprets these in his own way and to his way of thinking ONLY, then these people will not be getting the right message. Because they are uneducated (especially in places like Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, all the southern Asia Islamic countries); they will not know what is fact (according to the Islamic faith), and what is an exageration or misinterpretation. In their ignorance, they are misguided and then go on to fight new ideas and such, because they don’t know how to read and interpret for themselves. That is a big loss for the international Muslim community.
2. The stuff that comes out of people like Osama Bin Laden, and other extremists is sad. Because of their undeducated, desperate and poor followers who have nothing left, people like Osama who are smart enough to interpret things in their own way and to their advantage, do more to hurt their own people and the image of their faith, than to strengthen it.
3. The world now is operating on a different level. Democracy is globalizing, and despite some protests, Democracy is the majority voice in the world, and it’s the most in-demand. If the Islamic governments want to survive, they need to update and centralize their faith in order to stay on the same level as the rest of the world. Communists did it. China is still Communist, but it has updated it’s government to rival the growing Democratic method and stay on the same power level. Turkish government is mostly Islamic, but has managed to update and change it enough so that it is Democratic without losing it’s origin.
I don’t want to hear anymore about this Islam is best, this is best, that is best, etc… At this rate, Islam is NOT going to survive the way its going.
For the people here that are Islam: All this energy you put into fighting everyone on their low opinions of Islam, all this talk talk talk that you do trying to justify injustice to others AND TO YOUR OWN PEOPLE, listen to yourselves for a minute.
All you’re doing is causing anyone who already thinks low of your religion, to just keep thinking: “Yep…just like I thought. They are oppressive, ignorant, barbaric and need to be eliminated.”
All these things that Muslim extremists and Muslim government and some corrupt leaders do, hurt YOUR OWN IMAGE AND YOUR OWN PEOPLE, not the Jewish, not the Christian, BUT YOUR OWN. If you wonder why the West is not in favor of Islam, ask yourselves why the majority of the world has a low opinion of Islam too. Are you really putting your best foot forward?
So far, with all the problems of today, no, you are not. You are just proving everyone’s point (and their opinion is based on what they see YOU doing/saying in your own countries AND internationally).
So all this arguing is useless. It doesn’t change anything. So maybe stop writing on this site, and start trying to improve and fix the solution. Nothing can be solved or fixed from the outside to the inside; everything has to start inside FIRST.
