Ah. Thanks. Daily Mail misattribution fixed; non-mention of the opposite-page “American’s don’t understand irony” story left as-is, since I actually intended not to bother with that part, leaving it for the discerning reader who chose to follow the link.

I hope I didn’t come off as implying that Bing was wrong to think the paper was being sarcastic; they definitely WERE being sarcastic. I was just relishing his apparent slowness to appreciate that fact, seeing as it fits nicely with the rest of his slow-on-the-uptake but quick-to-make-a-public-ass-of-himself persona.

But thank you very much, again, for helping to keep lies.com on its toes. Feel free to scour other postings for mistakes, and bonus points if you can spot the false statements that are actually intentional, as distinguished from those those that are merely the result of my being lame.

Two points. Firstly, it was actually the Daily Mirror (left wing, paper of the working man), which is a very different kind of newspaper to the Daily Mail (right wing, thinks it’s upmarket). Secondly, opposite the “apology” was a full page article on why Americans don’t understand irony. Make of it what you will.
